I am very passionate about Kitchener, because we have the best of both worlds, with big city amenities and a strong sense of community typical of small towns. I grew up in this community, then ventured away to study in Montreal and travel the world. I returned to Kitchener to set down roots, and I have lived in Ward 10 since 2001 with my husband Stephen McDonald, where we are raising three active boys.
People often ask me what drew me to this role. Previous to being a city councillor, I developed my interest in local politics when I volunteered on the Compass Kitchener Citizen Advisory Committee for eight years. Being on city council gave me another opportunity to serve the community I love.
Over the past four years, I have put in many long hours addressing important issues brought to my attention by Ward 10 residents. I have a Master's degree in community development, and currently serve on a number of working committees:
“Sarah has earned my respect through the years and I have watched carefully how she has earned the respect of her council colleagues. I urge the voters in Ward 10 to support her so she can continue to provide the city with common sense service.”
